My name is Heather. I’m a 46 year old academic and the mother of two young(ish) children. At any given time, there are about a gizillion things on my to-do list, some of which get done and some of which don’t. I’ve started this blog to get me thinking about what’s really important in life, starting with health and peace of mind. Though I’m a senior academic at a Russell Group university in the UK, as well as a government advisor, I’m also a mother, a wife, a reader, a photographer, a writer, a baker, a sister, daughter, friend, a fan of sunshine, the beach, travel, Italy, growing veg…and somehow over the years, I’ve forgotten about everything except for the first 2 things in this list. Now that I’m in my forties, a pretty laissez-faire approach to my own well-being just isn’t going to cut it any more. Hopefully this blog will help remind me, more than anyone else, than there can be life outside the REF.
